We had an awesome day fishing the Manistee River in the 7th Annual Salmon Tournament sponsored by RiverMan Custom Boats. We started fishing at 3:30am in the lower stretch of the river with glow plugs in hopes of finding some early morning fish. It was a long wait until 7:00am when Chuck boated our first fish using skein, which also happened to be the second largest fish of the tournament (15 pounds). A short while later, Steve finally figured out what the fish were biting like and landed the largest fish of the tournament (17 pounds). This fish was also his first salmon caught on the river using skein. After these fish were in the box, we proceeded to land 14 more fish until we decided to put our final fish for our 12 fish limit in the cooler. At the weigh in, we found that we caught the two largest fish of the tournament, which took first and second place. We had a great day fishing and hope to continue the streak next year.
